Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan or VDM, is set to appear in court today over allegations of impersonating a police officer. This development comes after a viral video surfaced showing VeryDarkMan wearing Nigeria Police Force uniforms without authorization . In the video, he referred to himself as CSP VeryDarkMan and Nigeria’s “number one online police officer,” which sparked widespread condemnation from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The NPF took to its X account on Friday to announce that VeryDarkMan would face prosecution, emphasizing the force’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its uniforms and preventing unauthorized usage . The FCT Police Command is spearheading the prosecution, and interested persons are encouraged to follow the proceedings as the case unfolds.

VeryDarkMan’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, revealed that his client was detained by police on Thursday after responding to an official summons ¹. This isn’t the first time VeryDarkMan has been summoned; he honored a similar invitation on Wednesday. Adeyanju expressed concern over his client’s detention, stating that VeryDarkMan has consistently maintained that the Nigerian Police are friends, despite public skepticism.
